The consortium of PKO BP and eService will operate non-cash payments in Poczta Polska (Polish Post) facilities

The consortium of PKO BP and eService won the tender for the operation of payment cards in the Polish Post facilities. As a part of a long-term cooperation, there will be 8.5 thousand payment terminals (POS) installed across the network of the Polish Post, on which - except for card acceptance – there will be cash handouts services and mobile top-ups available. Even in 2016, customers of the Polish Post will have the possibility of credit card payment for the services of the Polish Post such as bill payment or shipping packages.

Implementation of payment terminals installation project in the network of the Polish Post will have a significant impact on further development of the non-cash payments market in Poland, opening up new opportunities to offer additional services for card and mobile payments.

The development of electronic banking and non-cash payments is the strategic priority of PKO Polish Bank in recent years. These services are cheaper than traditional and enable greater convenience and increased customer satisfaction. The aim of the settled tender is to launch the card acceptance across the network of post offices. Card acceptance will be carried out through a network of more than 8.5 thousand POS terminals installed in post offices. It will allow card payments for postal services (eg. sending parcels) and for products sold in post offices (eg. postage stamps and envelopes). The terminals will also be supported with cash handouts services and it will be possible to purchase mobile top-ups.

PKO BP is working long-term with the Polish Post in a number of areas, including logistic services and banking support. Polish Post and Bank are also the Shareholders of Postbank. In 2015, the Polish Post and PKO BP decided to raise the Postbank capital by about 60 million zlotys in order to provide it with the possibility of stable development.

Leadership is strengthened by a network of nearly 130,000 terminals, including the largest network of terminals allowing contactless payments. The number of processed non-cash transactions ranks eService in first place among acquirers in Central and Eastern Europe. Since 2014, the company has been present in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and since 2015 also in Hungary and Gibraltar. As part of the joint-venture, PKO BP holds 34% of the shares and the EVO International Payments holds 66% of the shares in the eService.
